9 Months Old!

Happy 9 Months Britta! Some 9 month highlights for Britta:
-She is in the 90th percentile for weight (21 lbs 6 oz) and length (29 inches)
-She loves to clap! Everything is worthy of clapping for...
-She imitates the sounds "mama" and "dada" anytime we say them, though we're not sure she's saying it to anyone in particular.
-She points to things in her books (especially animals)
-She can stand on her own against the couch/toy table.
-She can FINALLY fall asleep on her own for naps (without me getting her to sleep first!)
-She has 4 beautiful teeth.
-Her smile is priceless!

Each day we are so thankful that God has given us Britta and has chosen us to be her parents!

It's a whole new world up here!

The new smile: Squinting eyes (almost shut) and wrinkling up her nose! We're wondering how she came up with this one... Do we smile like this?

Ok- seriously- is there anything cuter than this grin??

Sippy Cup Training

We started sippy cup training because Britta needed more liquids in her diet.... She usually just chews on it, but sometimes she gets something out... Right now, she seems to think it's just a fun toy to chew on!

Check out my new top teeth!!!

The Wave

Britta's latest trick is that the entire time she is eating, she waves her right arm all around like a wild woman. Here's an action shot.... This picture just made me laugh. She really does like veggies (though it's hard to tell from this picture!)
Hi Mama!
Silly girl! Check out the two bottom teeth! One of her top teeth just broke through today!
NO MORE FOOD!

My Corner of the Crib

A post by Britta:
"The other day, I went down for a nap in my nice, cozy room. I started off LAYING on my tummy in the middle of my crib..... BUT when I woke up, I was SITTING exactly like this in the corner of my crib! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED!"
As you can see, I was quite puzzled and scared when I woke up. I wish my mommy would've rescued me right away instead of running to get the camera....
(Sorry it's the wrong direction, I always forget that it gets messed up when I flip it.... Just a view of what I saw when I walked into the room! Poor baby!)

Christmas AGAIN!

Ben's parents were able to come up for our very own Christmas over New Year's! We had a blast celebrating Christmas for a 2nd time! It was great! Friday night was fondue night and presents.... On Saturday, we skyped with Tara, Ryan, and Owen, playing the annual Schmidt Family TV Game Show game (This year "Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?"). Then Britta got to open all of her gifts!
The paper of course was a highlight.

OOOOO.... prettttttty!!
Can you see it? She has bedhead! HAHA! Her hair is actually getting long enough to get ratted in the back!
You can't tell from her face, but she loves this toy. (We're working on joyful expressions for the camera. In real life she smiles ALL THE TIME, but for the camera, it's notoriously this face.... we affectionately call it "The Britta Face.")

8 Months Old

Happy 8 Months Baby! We had to resort to holding the sign because..... ...This is what was happening....
....And this.....
Ah well... what a wonderful little 8 month old we have! We are so thankful for this little girl...
Love you Britta!
This is how we spent our day today....
Sharing toys with her new friend...

Maybe giraffes like to read???
I love my friend....
Now I have someone besides Mommy to stare at all day!

Christmas Fun

Britta's first Christmas! She was a wonderful girl the whole weekend and loved every part of the Christmas traditions. First, we went to the Christmas Eve Service at church so the girls got all dressed up.
Even baby Noelle made it to church that night! And then of course, the next morning Britta got to open all sorts of presents! She loved that part....She especially loved the squeaky bag....And the tasty wrapping paper.....And more wrapping paper.... And chewing on her new socks....
And her puffs....
And basically anything she could shove in her mouth.
And don't forget her new baby doll from Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Leafblad. And the squeaky box....And her Britta-size giraffe (She is talking to him in this picture!)
And she can even ride on her new giraffe (It can hold up to 140 pounds!! HA!)
And of course, sometimes the bags and empty boxes make the most fun toys!

And back to church one more time on Sunday.... Check out my two bottom teeth!
What a big girl she is!
